Laboratory spiral separator developed to separate small amounts of brassica and rape seeds as well as other kind of round seeds. The feeding is by hand and because the height of the machine is only 125 cm the machine is very easy to operate and very easy to clean. With the Spiral 125 you can clean a lot of small samples in a short time without contamination risk. The machine is very durable because it is built of stainless steel.
Spiral Separator “270” With Vidos precision feeder
The Selecta Spiral-separator is very suitable for separation of seeds on shape; round from angular, flat or oval seeds.
It can be used to separate soil and weeds from brassica seeds, weeds from spinach etc.
With spirals, the quality and precision of the equipment are determent for the separation results; SELECTA has an outstanding record of high quality products.
The short Spiral separator can be used to remove soil and weeds from round seeds; for example radish, radish and brassica seeds. In this case, weeds remain in inner spirals.
The long Spiral separator is specially designed to separate soil and weeds from angular and flat seeds like carrots, spinach, beans. Here, the weeds and other debris arein the outer spiral, whilst seeds remain in the inner spirals.
Spirals provide fully automatic operation without any moving parts. The Spiral-separator is easy to transport and can be used as stand alone or in a cabinet, to increase capacity.
The seeds are carried into the feeding inlet on top. The inlet is provided with a distribution-unit to guarantee an even spreading of the seeds in the machine.
The round and smooth seeds move faster and therefore reach the outer spirals. The angular seeds move slower and remain in the inner spirals.

FeedingThe Selecta spiral-separators can be equipped with a mechanical feeder or an electrical feeder.
The electrical feeder is a step less adjustable 'VIDOS" vibrating feeder at the hopper.
The advantage of the "VI DOS" feeder compared to the mechanical operated feeder is easier and more regular adjustment of the flow of the seeds into the machine. It also ensures a constant flow without clogging of the seeds in case of c haft or other debris. This is important if the machine is used in continues operation 24 hours a day.
The VIDOS feeder gully is self-cleaning and easy to inspect.
It is possible to retrofit the VI DOS feeder on an existing Spiral-separator with mechanical operation. Installation is very easy: just exchange feeding hoppers, all external dimensions are the same.
In some cases all the "good" seeds have already been swung over the edge of the inner spirals after 4 revolutions. The "bad" seeds start to swing out over the edge of the inner spirals after 5 revolutions. The result of the process will be that there are again "bad" seeds amongst the "good" seeds whilst they already have been separated properly during the process.
By using a SET OF BRUSHES, inserted at inner spirals at the height where the "bad" seeds start to swing out, the "bad" seeds are forced back into the inner spiral and will remain there. Because the SET OF BRUSHES can be inserted everywhere at the inner spirals, the separation can be precisely adjusted, all adding up to superb results.

SHORT IN LONG MODEL
The SET OF BRUSHES make it possible to operate the Long model as a Short model by inserting a SET OF BRUSHES in the inner spirals at the height of 4,5 revolutions.
This makes the cleaning result of the long model the same as if the seeds had been separated on a short model.
In case of doubt, the choice of a 270 (long version) model is recommended;
together with the SET OF BRUSHES you will be able to process all type of seeds.

It is possible to deliver the spiral separators with2 or 3 outlets, depending on the seeds you have to separate. Standard model has 2 outlets at 180 0 angle.
By using the insert SET OF BRUSHES, the extra outlet (third outlet) in the outer spiral for an extra separation of the "swung-out seeds" is not required any more for the majority of seeds. Furthermore, it is easier to use 2 outlets if the seeds have to be collected in big bins.
